We believe...

...in the being and unity of God, the existence of three equal persons in the Godhead, the Divine inspiration of the Scriptures, the need of every human being for salvation through Jesus Christ, the divinity of Christ, the work of the Holy Spirit in regeneration and sanctification, the perseverance of the saints, the second and glorious appearance of our Lord and Saviour, the resurrection of the dead, the punishment of the wicked and the blessedness of the righteous, the baptism by immersion of believers in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the Lord's Supper in accordance with His command, the Church a company of baptized believers voluntarily associated for mutual edification and sympathy, the maintenance and propagation of these doctrines and especially the spreading of the Gospel of Christ in all lands, and assembling on the first day of the week for the
ministry of the Word and the observance of the Christian ordinances, the Word of God as a sufficient rule of faith and practice.

BURTCH BAPTIST CHURCH COVENANT

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this Church, in knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the Church, its work against sin and injustice in the world, the relief of the poor and the spread of the Gospel throughout all nations.

We agree to promote family worship and maintain private devotions; to educate our children in the teaching and practice of our faith; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all idle talk, backbiting, and unrighteous anger; to practice temperance in all things; and to be zealous in all our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Saviour.

We covenant to watch over one another in Christian love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate the grace of sympathy of heart and courtesy of speech; to be slow to take offence and quick to forgive, mindful of the rules of our Saviour that we are to do so without delay.

And finally we engage that when we remove from this place, we will speedily seek opportunity to unite with some other Church, in whose fellowship we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God's Word.
